Taiyuan Heavy Industry was approved by the Shanxi Provincial People's Government Jin Zheng Han [1998] No. 50, jointly initiated by Taiyuan Heavy Machinery (Group) Co., Ltd., Datong Gear Factory and Shanxi Economic and Trade Assets Management Co., Ltd., and was registered with the Shanxi Provincial Administration for Industry and Commerce on July 6, 1998, and listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange on September 4, 1998, with the stock code 600169. Taiyuan Heavy Machinery Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Taizhong Group") is the actual controller of the company.

Taiyuan Heavy Industry is mainly engaged in: rail transit equipment, wind power generation equipment, mining equipment, lifting equipment, steel rolling equipment, coking equipment, construction machinery, nuclear capacitors, gear transmission, casting and forgings, rolling mill oil film bearings and other products and general contracting of engineering projects, has provided more than 2,000 kinds of national key construction projects and more than 30,000 sets of equipment (sets), which is a national super-large key backbone enterprise, known as the "treasure of the country" and "the pioneer of the national economy".

The company has strong independent research and development capabilities, has a nationally certified enterprise technology center and a national key laboratory, and has created more than 500 sets of products in China and the world.
